Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 2012 PSUBS Convention
Hi Alec,
Yes, and the museum is associated with a historical preservation scuba
organization whom is interested in supporting dive operations. The
museum is in a really unique location, smack dab in the middle of a
channel connecting Lake Michigan and Lake Muskegon. If you look at
either google earth or google maps you'll notice that just south of the
museum is a public docking area. My contact at the museum said that
there is a boat ramp there which should suit us fine. I explained that
we need a good four feet of water and he said it should work but he will
confirm it. If not, there is a boat lift close by.
My understanding is that the museum has two 30 foot boats which are more
than capable of towing submarines. There is a wreck right next to the
breakwater (see google maps) in 15 feet of water, and there is another
wreck not much further in about 50 feet of water. However, dive ops
could also occur right next to the public marina in Lake Muskegon. I
asked about renting some small pontoon boats for "bubble watchers" and
he said those are available as well.

Jon,
Are there any prospects of diving at this one? I see Muskegon is on
the water, but I've no idea if there is a ramp, protected waters, etc.
Thanks,
Alec
