Some great ideas for the oil filled bladder. Looks like it's gonna be another custom job. I loaded some new pics for Trystworthy. Check out my design for the thru-hull. I thought it turned out very nice. The design allows easy serviceability, adjustment in case of a leak, and will have less weeping problems. Thanks again for the input on the oil filled bladder.

Scott,
One thought on the bladder for compensating the depth gauge, is
to use a marine light housing. Take the glass out & replace it with
rubber from a car inner tube. Seal it well & as long as you bled all the air out of the
system the rubber would have very little travel & not much tension on the
clamping area. Also some lights have a short threaded pipe that the wiring
comes in through. May be very little work if you found the right item.

It is in Dan Hryhorcoff's project photos. Picture 24 and 25. It is the black rubber thing with the metal ring. Can't seem to find anything like it. Anyone have any ideas? Also what kind of oil do you think you would use, maybe just a lightweight auto oil or something even lighter? I'll be uploading more pics soon. I have made tons of progress including a really cool new thru-hull design that is basically complete!
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Brian,
It's to protect the innards of the depth gauge from corrosion from seawater.

Why do you need a bladder for the depth gage?

Does anyone know where to get a oil filled bladder for the depth gauge like the one pictured in Dan's boat Presistance?
