Hi Stewart.  The cheap paint isnt a 2 pac epoxy, im not sure what it is but its nothing special, just the sort of stuff you'd use on a gate.  The marine epoxy is proper stuff, but it costs a fortune.

James theres not much difference between automotive 2 pac epoxy and marine… for your purposes (internal) it probably wont make much difference at all… you might even be able to get individual components powder coated! J

Hi All,

 

Im going to paint the inside of my battery pods today.  As theoretically, the insides should not get wet, i was thinking of using just a normal metal paint like Hammerite or something.  A straight forward paint that you would use to paint outdoor railings and things with.  Do you think this will be ok or should i go for the "proper" 2 part epoxy marine primer?  Its just really expensive.
