Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] open source scrubber design

I'm a bit surprised to see people writing about dumping used CO2 absorbent. Doesn't anybody regenerate theirs?

When lye is exposed to atmosphere it is converted to the carbonate by absorbtion of carbon dioxide, but heating it in an oven can regenerate it by driving off the CO2 and reconverting to the hydroxide. Is that not possible with the commercial compounds?

Cliff,
1. My first thought was to split the total amount of Sodasorb into two
identical canisters, but then it occurred it might cut operating costs
to have one smaller canister adequate for most missions and a second
larger canister (sealed) plumbed in for longer missions and long term
life support. That way you're not having to dump as much unused Sodasorb.
