Hi Ian, Yeah a lot of work there. It's only rated to 57 ft. I wonder if that is due to the number of air cylinders required to equalize the large cabin at deeper depths? Specifications--- http://www.ossapowerlite.com/customers/exomos/proteus/exomos_proteus.htm He was selling a military version & says in the quote below that he had orders from Indonesia."Jaubert says that his submarines are also popular with the police and coast guards, and that Indonesia has ordered submarines from his company for military purposes."
"My submarines are the only ones that can be operated in shallow waters, the big subs they can't go there because it's too close and not deep enough. So I'm the only one to be able to go into the water in shallow waters which makes it easier for the police to hide and make surveillance of the coastal waters, it's very effective. And on top of that my submarines don't even look like a submarine, they look like a boat. So it's deceptive," says Jaubert.
Might make a good drug sub?? Alan----- Original Message ----- From: "irox" <irox@ix.netcom.com>

I personally have a mistrust of French secret agents after seeing the "Rainbow Warrior" lying on it's side in Auckland harbor after being bombed by French frog men ( & a frog woman). I believe Phil Nuyten was a consultant for Exomos, perhaps Jon could extract some insider comment from him at the Underwater Intervention Conference over the next couple of days. Then they invite him to move - lock, stock and barrel - to Dubai. THEN they say he's incompetent, his products are shoddy and he's dishonest, as alleged in the Florida lawsuit. And oh yes - he escaped from Dubai in one of those shoddy, unsafe submarines. Yea, right! Cheers, Ian. ----------------------------------------------------------------- [[A submarine accident]] http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2011/feb/15/dubai-world-initially-excited-to-find-stuart-sub/ Miller on Tuesday recounted how most of Jaubert's submarines that they tested were unsafe and often leaked. "Sometimes they leaked a little bit," he said, "and sometimes they were significant." While testing one submersible underwater, Miller said he watched it turn nose up, flip over and ram into mud, temporarily trapping the diver inside. ----------------------------------------------------------------- [[Phil Nuytten asked to testify]] http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2011/feb/17/no-headline---tc_mc_dubai_trial/ To that end, Dubai World lawyers called to testify Canadian diving pioneer Phil Nuytten, founder of the undersea technology company Nuytco Research Ltd. He told jurors when he visited Dubai in 2006 to review Jaubert’s submarine prototypes, he was impressed with the operation but worried over a submersible yacht dubbed Proteus, built to operate on the surface and dive underwater with 14 people onboard. He said he feared the systems Jaubert was using on the Proteus would fail to maintain the proper pressure underwater. “I was concerned about the physical possibility of the vessel working as it was designed,” Nuytten said. “There are huge liability possibilities.” ----------------------------------------------------------------- [[The embezzling part isn't so interesting, things like over charging.]] http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2011/feb/16/dubai-world-audits-show-lot-money-unaccounted-subs/ In one example, Yip testified that records showed Jaubert in 2005 charged Exomos $186,600 for two "hydrojets" that a supplier actually sold him for $162,772. Jaubert, she said, also billed Exomos for a $18,600 service charge paid to his Seahorse Submarine firm. "In other words, he padded the price that he added the service charge to?" asked Dubai World attorney Jon C. Cederberg. "Correct," Yip replied. -----Original Message-----From: irox<irox@ix.netcom.com> Sent: Feb 15, 2011 9:57 AM To: personal_submersibles@psubs.org Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Herve Jaubert on trail over Exomos In Fort Piece, Fl: http://www.bradenton.com/2011/02/15/2957751/submarines-for-sultans-trial-begins.html http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2011/feb/10/trial-starts-monday-to-decide-if-former-stuart/ ************************************************************************ ************************************************************************ ************************************************************************ The personal submersibles mailing list complies with the US Federal CAN-SPAM Act of 2003.
