Hi Lawrie,
Great news that the cyclone missed Cairns, could
have been a lot worse than it was.
Was hoping something miraculous would happen
there.
It sounds complicated building a pod that can be
detached from the rest of the sub,
with he air
lines & electronics etc. needing to separate from the hull. Have seen
this
mentioned in the Busby book. At least you'd have a
much better chance of survival
both from sub to surface & on the
surface.
Phil described a method of detachment for a
manipulator with hydraulics that I could dig up
if you are interested & are still wanting to
pursue the pod release.
Great renderings, enjoyed looking at
them.
Regards Alan

Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Internals to
K350 Salvage concept...
Good day to all,
I have been working on the concept and completed some internals.
http://www..psubs.org/projects/1280105118/k350salvage/
The concept includes releasing the central pressure vessel (pilot and
observer) from the submarine, thus three options.. drop weight, release
central pod, or flood and swim. I suppose what I need to do once I do
some maths is build a 1/5 model and add weight to ensure that the dimensions
in terms of bounancy, mass, and all the other parameters work out.
Incidentally, for the chassis (sounds like a car) that pulls it all
togther, anyone able to offer advice on what material, alloy, steel,
composite?
Enjoy your day, cheers, Lawrie.
