Fwd: [PSUBS-MAILIST] GPS buoy

David,  we had quite a discussion sometime in the past 8 months regarding emergency release buoys, but I haven't been able to find that thread (thought it was in August).  Below is the only thing I was able to locate.

** A GPS bouy battery powered with a echosounder as transmitter and an other
** one as reciever in the sub.

What type of modulation will you use when transmitting data from the buoy
and down to the submerged submarine?

Are you going to use something fancy like the sweep spread carrier (S2C)
technology, or is it something more traditional like frequency-shift
keying (FSK)?

I assume you are transmitting complete NMEA sentences?

Best regards,
Jens Laland
