RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Blueglobe cable glands

Hi Alec,

The M16 cable glands comes with a small and a big bore . they can be used from 4 to 11 mm

I tested an 5,5mm and 11 mm cable. Both can take the same pressure .

The bulkhead is from Euronauts Dive chamber.

The brass ones are USD 3,50 the SS. ones are USD 35,- ……

Emile

Wow, that is what I would consider a major discovery. I notice in the photo you have all kinds of different cables going through that bulkhead. Did your tests include several cable types? I would imagine the results might depend as much on the cable as on the gland.

Thanks,

Alec

Hello,

On both the Euronaut and Eurosub we use Pflitsch Blueglobe cable glands.

They are high quality and rated for 15 Bar.

Today I did a test in my new test chamber. The little tings can hold 100 Bar (3000 Ft) !

At 80 Bar the cable start to move  but no leaks.

So might be an option for your subs smaller cable penetrators.

Also the UW lamp I designed for 15 Bar /150 Metres survived also 80 Bar /800 Metres ;-))

Groet,
