RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Shaft Seal
You need a ceramic pump seal.
The engineers on the other side need the following informations:
- shaft diameter
- shaft rpm
- Pressure of the outside medium
- Pressure of the inside medium
- outside medium
- inside medium
And if they dont ask this question look for an other supplier...
In my case it was:
3" diameter
300 rpm
1-40 bars outside pressure
1 bar inside
Low viscosity mineral öl outside
Air inside
It comes out in my case with a semi custom solution for around 1600 USD 6 years ago.
The good onces are here:

Dont use the online select your self stuff - there are thousands of
right and wrong combinations. Ask for an offer for you application..
Maybe also intressting in Thurster applications is the maximum available outside space to get the seal in..
..if there are limits the should also get informations of that.
On diesel electri sub the have to calculate both modes:
High rpm on the surface at low pressure and low rpm at the depth and high outside pressure
