Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Shaft Seal

Hi John,

Mentioning that your seal is to be used in a submarine can actually work in your favor because it helps the sales or application engineer understand the level of quality you are needing. Talking all things submarines to vendors is sort of a test, if they shy away, that usually just tells me they aren't the right manufacturer for the job.

John,

I found by asking suppliers for shaft seals and describing the pressure to be for say a large water tank and 150psi with this pump used to agitate the interior contents was the best way to go. I would not mention submarine use. The one I was looking for was for a 1" diameter drive shaft and ran me about $60.00 but I need to look up the supplier for you.
Give me a bit of time and I will see if I have any info on this purchase.

Hello, I need help on finding a right shaft seal or propeller seal. I don’t know how to choose one and know if they can be used in a submarine.
Any info would be very appreciated.

Thank you

John
