Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] rudder angle indicator
Hi Jens,
I started trying to adapt a schematic to use with my
rotary potentiometer. The potentiometer is 10k ohm
but will only be turning through 5k.
I was doing it on a bread board & it was taking a while
& getting a bit messy. I want 4 of these so if I can find
a kit that's easy to adapt it will make things tidy, small & easy to do.
Also I'm thinking of others like me who are "electronically challenged"
& would find it easier changing a few things on an existing
kit. Rather than building from scratch.
I bought a kit yesterday that has an LED display & reads the
voltage from a car exhaust oxygen sensor. I will see how this goes.
At the end of our discussions on whether rudder / motor angle indicators
were useful or not; Vance said from his experience they were.
So that's good enough for me.
The magnetic rotary potentiometer was a breeze to water
proof / pressure proof, if I can find an easy way of making a display
then incorporating them into the sub would be a more attractive option.

It is no magic in making your own printed circuit boards, but I never do
that during prototyping...
or when I simply need to "make a statement" in a discussion.
Besides, I had the impression from the last time we discussed these
matters that people could not quite agree on what they wanted (or if they
ever needed anything in the first place
:)
Best regards,
