Thanks Frank,  Those are propane tanks good for about 250 psi.  No, the ones that Phil had on his subs were Faber 2216 psig working pressure approved for Oxygen.

We can either get 9 litre heavy steel welding set oxygen bottles or medical 3 litre ones of Ali.  Why the NZ  govt doesn’t just accept US, EU or Canada standards I don’t know.  Hugh

Hugh. I'm not sure if this helps but I have looked at some fiberglass propane tanks available under the brand name "Lite" something. They are meant for use on small forklifts. As I recall they were about 10 gallon size and cost around $130 each. I was considering using them as VBT's because you can visually see the liquid level inside. I think the pressure rating was 250 psi.
