You GO dude !!!! Blow the bastard up !!!!!!!
OOps.......maybe not the best idea afterall, they couldn't even maintain the industry standard "blow out preventer".
It's a five story machine that sits on the well head and has mechanisms that pinch the pipe with hydraulic rams, has injection ports for plugging the well casing, and side taps for dividing the flow. Lots of options there.......but it wasn't installed correctly, the cement work wasn't done correctly, the maintenance checks weren't done correctly, and the federal guys overseeing the operation weren't doing their job correctly. This wasn't a mechanical failure, it was a series of decisions made leading to events that almost guaranteed it to become a disaster.
Sadly 11 men lost their lives. These weren't ditch diggers, they were trained professional drillers. BP has said they'll fix it and pay everyone who has a loss........fat chance!
The skills to clean up a mess like this haven't changed in 30 years. What's up with that ?
Where has the trillions of dollars gone that was made from all the deep sea wells ? Should a small piece of that money be used to develop a damn good way to prevent an accident or at least clean the damn thing up afterwards ?
Hey, maybe I need to pay ten dollars a gallon so the oil companies can afford to do this kind of work safely.
Any way you look at it....it's a *%#[&+$#$%^& damn mess !!!
Ya, I'm pissed off !!!
