Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] oil compensating

Hyco used the top hat style from truck air brakes. They found one that fit the end of their motor can exactly, compressed the flange with a retention ring and a double handful of #8 machine screws, and covered the thing with a free flooding fiberglass cap. It worked a treat and cost about seven dollars or something.

Vance Thank you for the info, I was going to make a simple bellow with that vinyl tubing, or that was my first thought then if there was a leak I could see it in the tubing
At least the sea water will not ruin the motor if its full of oil or less chance of it, do you have any ideas for bellows in that vast knowledge bank of yours,

Thanks again

What if you flood a thruster? Sea water will migrate to find the lowest point(s). I'd do them separate. In my experience, that isolates problems without causing any.

Brian,

Together okay, but make the bellow not too small. Count for 5 to 10% volume
chance.

And yet again one more question oil filled should I plum them all together
and put a small bellow so there also pressure compensated? These are all
questions running thru my head

Hello all
I have a question< I am
reassembling my motors and contemplating oil
compensating them, there 4 hp 2900 RPM 36 volt DC and on the back of the
motor is the reversing solenoids 4 of them, no I understand from reading
that WD40 works great, what do I have to do to oil compensate them and will
the solenoids work there just a single throw 12volt solenoid like ones found
on a early model ford, I don't think the rmp loss will be an issue, when I
bench tested it today it spun up and blew the motor control manual all
 over
the deck all 68 pages, any thoughts would greatly be appreciated
thanks
