Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] pressure hull sizing
Hi Carsten,
Well done finding the diver.
I had wondered wether small sub owners would get called on for that sought
of work.
Keep up the posts, am following Eurosubs progress with interest.

Hi Frank, the 2,4 ts sub is the Eurosub, 3 persons narrow and 2 persons
spacious.
And we managed allready a dive with 4 person in it - three mans and a 8
years old girl.
Yesterday it search and find a dead diver in the lake.
It release the emergency bouy and switch on all lamps to mark the spot and
than a
other diver salvage the body.

The 98" by 52 ft hull is good for a crew of four and about 40 rescued
submariner or so.

Hi Carsten. Just looking at the bare numbers, the 47" hull at 13.5 feet
long looks really good for a boat that can be hauled around and launched
easily from a trailer. At 2.4 tons it's a great size to weight
combination.
I've been inside a few psubs and the difference between a 36 inch and 48
inch is huge where comfort is concerned.
My saucer shaped hull is 84 inch round and is very roomy for two persons,
but the shape doesn't lend itself to good flow characteristics. It looks
a
lot like a Big Mac hamburger without the ballast tanks and fairings.
During model testing it was pretty unstable as a bare hull. Adding the
ballast tanks improved the flow, and with the addition of the dive plane
wings
and rear fin, it straightened right out. Now the test will be to see how
well it performs as a full-size/full-weight craft. At slow speeds it
should
work fine but my curiosity will prompt me to get a big boat and tow this
thing really fast to see just how the real thing performs in relation to
the
scale model testing. I would like to tow it at 15 knots or more and see
if I
have eliminated the "wobble" it produced during the model testing. Scary
but fun !
