RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] in-water testing session completed

    A special thanks go out to you for having tested this for the first time in salt water!
 
   These results were not unexpected as it was understood that anything that produced water borne noises would be picked up along with these communications. This is the primary shortfall for this simple system. It may find a general purpose aboard submarines as a casual short range boat to boat or to and from support vessels or even just divers.
 
   At the time this project was initiated back in 2007, Dan H. informed me that the farthest he could communicate while submerged was...only 2 feet! I think we have succeeded in extending this range just a bit and done this very cost effectively.
 
   As more work is done aboard submarines with this system being worked thru its paces, a fuller picture of the full capabilities and limitations of this most basic of communications systems will become clearer. 
 
   Thank you again on your testing efforts and I appreciate your honest reporting as to its outcome.
