Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 2010 PSUBS Conference - Ft. Pierce, FL

** PLEASE READ **

It's far past time for an update on the convention and after moving past a couple of issues I expect to send regular bi-monthly updates from this point out.

First, I am still looking for speakers. Dan Lance pointed out to me that I gave an incorrect email address the last time I requested speakers, so if you responded I did not get your message. Current speakers are US Batteries, Don Liberatore (HBOI), and Dan Lance. We have numerous people working on various projects from communications (Al? Lea?) to submarine construction (Cliff? Frank? Hugh? Dean? others?). Please contact me personally (jonw@psubs.org) if you have a topic you would like to present. This could be a research project or just an update on your own submarine project. I'm awaiting confirmation from Jay Jeffries on "weight & balances" presentation, and I may offer a presentation on my findings related to conning tower / viewport seat fabrication according to ABS/ASME rules, however I will defer my spot to others who wish to speak.

1) Don Liberatore from Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, and friend of Vance Bradley, will be providing us with a special tour of the HBOI facility.

2) We have been given permission to use the HBOI facilities for presentations. I expect this to be in the Johnson Education Center Auditorium which has all the equipment we require (projector, microphones, etc). I still need to get confirmation of reservation for this, however this appears to be where we'll be located at this point.

3) We are planning on touring the UDT/Seal museum.

4) Vance is still working on a barge for sub-diving. We know this is important to you so we hope to have a confirmation one way or the other by the end of this week or early next week.

5) We've been contacted by a local scuba club who is interesting in collaborating with us in some fashion. Our contact is Master SCUBA Instructor/Technical/Cave/ Public Safety Dive Instructor, USCG Merchant Marine Officer-Master, and Emergency Medical Instructor/Trainer. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity for "public display" if we can get some folks to bring their submarines, whether dive-ready or not.

6) The hotel choice has been selected and you can make reservations at any time. See the website for all current information.

7) I hope to have online registration ready this week.

Questions? You can post the list, or email me privately.

Jon
