Not a History buff, but I think the real ship was sunk in deep water in the Atlantic by Allied battleships such as the King George the VI. Its sister ship was the Tirpitz and this was sunk in a lock where it was moored by Allied planes. It is this ship you are probably thinking of? Anyone know any different? The real Bismarck came to it's end in front of Montevideo and I used to pass it once a year during my childhood as we drove to our beach house. Each year it crumbled lower and lower until when I was in my late teens it disappeared from view entirely.
