Your 1600 foot calculation sounds like it might be excessive. Using
Stachiw's tables I come up with about 580 to 600 feet which seems to be
in line with Carstens tables.

To my tables a 20 mm dome with a inside diamter of 560 mm is good for a
classification work depth of 650 feet at 24 degree water temp and 500 feet at 38 degree C°
