RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] CO2 Scubber Design Guidelines

Lung powered systems are great- I have one that I made out of acrylic tube and a welding respirator half mask. I just thought that the curtains might be of interest.

In terms of passive service for CO2, its fairly simple to design a
canister that you can adapt to use a mouthpiece of some kind with.

For recreational subs that expect to surface regularly it seems a CO2 scrubber system that operates through a mouthpiece as an emergency back-up makes sense. No fan or ducting would be required and if the system was closed up tight the chemicals could be isolated until needed from moisture, etc.

Much like having an on-board re-breather at the ready.
