I actually made a prototype periscope in that its optics were to work fine. I experienced the inversion of the image as Jens pointed out, but more disturbing was the image I finally obtained was very small. It was nothing like looking thru the real thing aboard my submarine on which I served. A shop was reserved aboard the sub tender just for this mast. These are quite complicated. I think I will sidestep all this optics and lenses and simply go to a camera. In all things we learn a lot of things by doing at least I do.
