Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] optronic mast
Alan
I have the understanding that the prototype camera by Olympus were meant
to be operated in a fixed (non-rotating), upright position, ref
ftp://ftp.artematrix.org/personal_submarine/optronic_mast/olympus-360-degree-camera_2008.jpg
and as you can vaguely see from the above image, the camera is actually
standing or resting on it's own connector.
I have no knowledge of the current status, or on how far off Olympus are
from introducing it onto the marked. What I do recall, when I looked into
these matters about a year ago, is that Olympus was more or less ready
with the camera itself (at the time), but had problems coming up with a
proper, fully functional monitor or projector for its images(?)
So, until they do (and it's initial high cost is over with), I will just
continue to work on an optronic version of a 1916 WWI periscope.
Best regards,
Jens Laland
