I have recently downloaded the "Orcad Family Release 9.2 Lite Edition".
This one is free, and comes with PSpice simulation, plus graphical PCB and
schematics layout editors (I am a total newbee on this one, but it looks
promising).

Eagle CAD (Standard) is a program that I have used for awhile, and I am very
satisfied with it. However, this is only a graphical layout editor for
Schematics and PCB, so it do not contain any circuit simulation engine.
