Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] RFC - Standard Thru-Hull Electrical Connector

Hi Jon, Alec, etc.

I think the standard is great. I am ready almost immediately to order several connectors including the one speced as well as three of the companies high power thru-hulls for my thrusters.

I am interested in the best discount possible. Can I order direct, do you have a contact person I can talk to or do I need to order through PSUBS.

I am hoping to do this well before late January.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Best Regards,

Jim K

BTW, here's another idea. The 7/16 x 20 threaded hole for the standard
connector happens to fit this:

I've been wanting to move away from NPT threaded air fittings toward
O-ring sealed fittings whenever possible, because I've found taped
threads occasionally have slow leaks. With the 7/16x20 threads we get
the flexibility to repurpose holes in the hull between electric and air.

Years ago, I epoxied these fittings into my AGA full-face mask as a
"thru-hull" connector to connect my mike up to my underwater comm unit.
They were very economical and worked fantastic (still installed in mask
and worked the last time I used it).

Love it. I suspect I'll be using these little Tyco connectors for all
sorts of cabin equipment apart from what goes through the hull.
They're infinitely more waterproof than my previous Radio Shack
disconnects. I try to build all inboard electricals so you could chuck a
bucket of salt water at them.
