Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Proposed PSUBS standard bulkhead connector
Can I make a suggestion...Subconn offered to send us a sample connector
so we could appraise it for our needs. It might be easier if we take
them up on that offer and have them ship Alec the sample so he can
analyze what is needed for transition pieces and also recommend a wiring
pattern. Both the Tyco and Subconn connectors have numbers associated
with the pin holes already, so it's just a matter of picking which color
wire to perform a specific function. This way he has a prototype to work
with and can resolve any issues that might come up. He can work with Al
in the background and we can hound both of them for updates via this
mailing list. Alec could even create a new web site project and upload
photos so we could follow along. If this is a good idea, I'll send an
email to Subconn and have them ship one to you Alec.
Here are a couple links I found for the Tyco adapter Al is talking about.

Perhaps someone could take a moment and explain how all this stuff is
suppose to fit together? From the discussion thusfar, I've got a picture of:
Inside Sub
OTS-Hardware <-> Tyco-A1351-ND <-> Subconn BH4F ->SUBHULL
Outside Sub
SUBHULL<- Subconn IL4M <-> Tyco-A1351-ND <-> OTS-Hardware

Alec,
The connector on the OTS transducer is a Tyco (Amp) Series 1 CPC 4 pin
connector that is rated IP66 and IP67 rated. The mating plug to the
transducer can be ordered from Digikey A1351-ND for $2.48…pins and
cable clamps extra. You can always fill the cable clamps / hood with
RTV to make them better sealed where the cable enters. If all goes
well, I hope to have my homebrew UQC available this summer in Fl also
which will be compatible with the OTS units.
