1. Purpose.
To standardize at least one bulkhead connector on small submersibles
for practical and safety reasons.
2. Introduction.
There is a clear practical and safety advantage to standardizing on a
hull (bulkhead) connector among a diverse group such as PSUBS. For
example, at the next PSUBS convention a standard connector would allow
sharing of underwater communications equipment between participants.
Such standard would also facilitate the adoption of home-built devices
if those devices were also fabricated to mate with a standard
connector.
3. Proposal.
Adoption of Subconn web mateable connectors as follows:
Subconn Part #: BH4F - screws into the hull and has 4 female contactsSubconn Part #: IL4M - Male plug and outside cable.
outside, ordinary leads on the inside.
Subconn Part #: DLSA-F/DLSA-M - OPTIONAL - A plastic locking sleeve
for BH4F/IL4M to prevent disconnect if there is movement in the cable.
Subconn Part #: DC4M - OPTIONAL - A blank plug that protects theSpecification sheet available at: 4. Justification.

7. Enforcement.
This is a voluntary standard.
