I think wiki is a good solution for gathering and organizing large amount of knowledge. And for that is far better than traditional faq. Also its as simple to edit as html is, so most of people can edit it after reading some basic instructions. Also wiki can be customized to be editable by registered users only. And the biggest advantage of wiki is that its open, and can expand much faster and wider then when made by a single editor, because different people has different knowledge and specializations.
