Hi Frank, So you are going to be at a depth of 300 ft and a big squid wraps
a rope around you tying you to the floor, you let go your buoy with phone
attached and then hope that some passing boat will hear the phone ringing, stop
and answer it? Back to your normal common sense now Frank. I think that rather than a buoy with a phone on it, a better
solution would be to have an EPIRB water activated in a float so when on the
sub the water activating part is dry. You eject the float with Flag and
bright colours, on a conventional line, pops up to the surface and transmits on
international frequency and you have a normal underwater phone (OTS) on
conventional frequencies. Obviously the Float will have the frequency of your
comms written on it and a message do not steal or cut off. Cavalry
arrives and finds Frank. Rest of the story is that Frank has
inadvertently kicked the emergency release button while trying to join the 50
fathom club!! Squid story is the cover. Cheers, Hugh From:

Good idea. A standard freq. makes the most sense. Frank D. |
