RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] R300 Dive 3

Cliff,

Have you seen the video of Kyle's collision avoidance sonar? We are soon going to modify it to transmit as well and I would love to make a very small system for your sub. His system will be the first to better make use of the higher transmition levels the voice transmitter can accommodate. Ranges with high reliability should be around 700 feet apart and 500 feet deep using this simple system.
Describe if you will the expected performance goals you anticipate from your OTC system and the projected cost estimates. The more systems we can make available to these builders, the better for safety.

                                                                             Thanks in advance

Floats on the line could work but I think that I am just going to jettison the safety line and buoy.  I have a pinger attached to the boat so finding the boat should not be an issue.

What I really need on the boat is the underwater comms. Dan Lance put me on to some really good equipment from OTS that I am looking at.

Hi, Cliff - nice to see the progress on your sub.  That is one beautiful boat!!

I have a thought about your lines.  Since you're in really poor vis would it be prudent to keep your locating line, but, keep it buoyed by intermittent floats along the rope?  This is a buoy system we use up here that keeps lines off the bottom.  Whether it would be practical as far as your intakes are concerned is another matter, but, it may just save your bacon.

Ciao
