Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Permission to come aboard

Well, fortunately I'm in the "relatively" liberal area of Jeddah.  Not a military man though; I'm a civilian flight instructor.  Since I've been here I finally obtained my dive certification and actually have had quite a lot of fun on the Red Sea.  I will miss it a little bit, but time to move on to greener pastures.  Other than my time spent underwater, it has actually been an incredibly boring year.

Well, Saudi sure ain't Kansas. It isn't even Arkansas. How are things in Riyadh? The last time I was there, guys with submachine guns followed me everwhere but the head (and stood at the door while I was in there). They told me cameras weren't allowed and to take all that stuff off the submarine (PC-8). It took some convincing to convince the unconvincable that we were THERE for camera work, and the PC-8 itself was a camera housing with motors. Nervous folks, those.

Greetings fellow deep water dwellers.  Long time reader of the list archive and dreamer of my future projects.  After so long, I have finally joined the list discussion and plan on membership with psubs.org.  I have learned so much from the group, and still have much more to learn in order to witness the fruition of my dream.  I look forward to getting to know you all and being able to contribute as much as I can.  My project is currently no further than the drawing board, and will probably be there until I'm out of college (Newly declared electrical engineering major, but maybe I can come up with a few gadgets for you all in the time to come), but will be trying to get off the boards as soon as possible.!

Looking forward to a long and productive correspondence,
