I've received some pictures from Ellis Adams a little
while back on his S101 that you Subdudes likely have not seen. They are here
with some pictures I Took of the S101.
The acrylic conning tower cylinder dims
are
540 mm / 21.2598" ID, 300 mm / 11.81102362" tall, 44 mm / 1.73228346" thick This cylinder has to deal with the weight of the steel
weldment above it, collision, hydrodynamic and hydrostatic loads .
This subs general operating depth is 100 meters / 305
fsw.

Here are some answers to to my questions on the S101

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4.5 kW e Motor is currently installed?  Markon B21B (I understand it came from a British milk

the visible ball in the stern?  Fluxgate compass (area is all
FRP)

the two acrylic component?  Yes--some of this can likely be polished
out.

height of the conning tower acrylic cylinder  540 mm ID, 300 mm tall,
44 mm thick
8. Is the conning tower
acrylic cylinder sealed with two flat gaskets or a Sekaflex type
sealant? Two flat gaskets plus two O-rings, top and

15. When did the ABS
certification run out, and what needs to be done to the sub to get it current
with ABS? S101
was never built to class standards and can never be classed (frame spacing is
not the way ABS wants to see it). The vessel meets most ABS
specs.
16. Is there a keel cooling
system for the diesel, and if so what type and pictures if possible.
No, external
cooling water supplied through double-valved inlet
lines.
