Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Vancouver + hotel accommodations

I think Ray was trying to coordinate a hotel close to the meeting room and dive area. It may be time to forgo that strategy however and simply find a place that can accommodate a bunch of us. We can then figure out transportation requirements to/from various events. I'll be renting a car, but perhaps we could do something creative and a few of us pitch in to rent a van (or two) so that we have more seats available. Or maybe the membership will authorize subsidizing a van or two with our membership money?? I don't know, but a couple of things to think about.

A few weeks back I did send out a notice asking people to let me know how much money they were willing to spend, per night, on a hotel room. I didn't get any responses to that request, but it certainly would help us determine what class of hotel to look for in the area. Feel free to respond to me privately off-list. Personally, my limit is somewhere around $125 a night, and preferably cheaper.

We are getting very close to Conference time and we have yet to learn of accommodations plans. I am hesitant to make my plane reservations without the hotel being firmed up. It appears that there may be an issue for Wednesday night in the Vancouver area as that night is more expensive than the weekend rates. This would lead me to believe that there is some big special function going on and rooms will be scarce for that night. Can we get the hotel resolved real quick?
