Keep me posted if you ever go down there, it's within driving distance from where I am based. If you need any "safety divers", I'd be happy to help get some people together. I've got a great fisher underwater metal detector too. I've used it to find coins/artifacts at depth.
I'm pretty sure salvage laws vary depending upon the location- international vs. domestic waters etc. and the origin/current owner of the wreck. There is a lot of information available online about the subject. I've also noticed a (somewhat obvious) trend: The bigger the find, the greater the number of people that will try to lay claim to your "treasure".
