I bought the Minn Kota Rip Tide 80lbs thrust.  They seem really well made, 
easy to dismantle and looks like it will be straight forward with the oil 
compensation method.

I had a right game removing the composite shaft mind.  I found the tecnique, 
but only the second time around.

I just updated my site so its on there.

Good news can you possibly let me know the  model you bought and the horses
as minn kota's site does not give this info I am looking forward to seeing
what you come up with I have put my thruster thru hulls on hold .Today my
steel for my pods arrived so tomorrow I will start on them.

I just took delivery of my 2 new Minn Kota motors.  Thanks to all for the
advice.

I was going to buy just the motor pods themselves, but i know the guy in the
shop and he did me such a good deal, i ended up with 2 complete salt water
motors at more or less the price for the pods alone!

I'm going to get stuck in with voiding the warranty this weekend.....
