RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Submarine on land- Google Earth

It looks like it's called automatic caching of Google Earth data for offline use. But it looks like your limited to the areas you have looked at online in the past. It would be nice to be able to download or be able to purchase a DVD with the whole works. Then be able to get updates, like are available for GPS units when it comes to maps.  Now that Google Earth is showing more detail of the ocean floor it might be a nice thing to have on a laptop PC in your sub.

Carsten,  They used to post the date the image was taken at the bottom of the image. But for some reason I've noticed they don't seem to be doing that any more. In rural areas they don't update near as often as areas they see people are most often looking at.

I'm back home with dial-up internet, so I don't get to play on Google Earth for the time being.  I wish there was a way to download all the images that compose Google Earth, so you could look at if off line as well as not have to wait for the server to stream the data to you.

Szybowski
