[PSUBS-MAILIST] Diesel storage tank

Hi All,
          Where I'm constructing my sub they are tearing down a old diesel
storage tank. Could this material still be used in the construction of a
sub?  It is only mild steel so it would be limited to shallow water.  Would
the exposure to diesel on the metal over many years effect the metal?  Could
it be cleaned up?  This tank is probably 50' high  and 100' in diameter.
