Not that I am displeased with the performance of our HBH hydrophones thus far produced, a new style of hydrophone is now being tested that requires no resonance chamber filled with air. This newest hydrophone has thus far proven even more sensitive at picking up ambient water borne noise than previous units. With the lack of an air bubble for resonance, a greater depth is hoped to be achieved before the hydrophone fails to function. The testing on this hydrophone will continue with the first deployment scheduled to be with Kyle and his k-250 submarine in the form of a collision avoidance system.
