Hi James. I've never used the 309Si, so can't comment on it. The 309L is
what I've used and had no problems with "wetability".
I bet either one would be fine. For a definitive answer, go to the Lincoln
web site and send them an e-mail. They have a group of weld experts available as
it relates to their products, and will recommend which is best. Frank
