Hi james,

In my ambient sub I have a camera mounted to a snorkel that displays on a monitor in the cabin. It can easily be connected to a DVD recorder.

Check out www.viewtech.co.nz. They supplied me with all the bits.

I found that the system works really well especially went just cruising under the surface and being able to view on top of the surface.

If you search google images for "Drydive" domain NZ you will find pics

I could email you pics of camera/monitor/setup if you want

Alen,

Go to the club site and under special projects, look thru
the pictures pertaining to passive sonar. There you will
find a small digital camera as it is being installed into a
PVC enclosure that should be water tight down to 700'
although it would require a monitor for display. A simple
system such as this is what I am hoping to use.

If you get anywhere with the fathometer, share this with
us as I have yet to concider that one...

Hi, I'm building an ambient sub and thought it would be
a good idea to pick up a video camera
to chronicle the event, but more so for using in the sub.
It occured to me that I might destroy it
with the internal pressure in an ambient sub. I've been
looking at a couple of cameras with 60 gb
memory (sony dcr sr85 & panasonic sdr h60). Another
item I've looked at is a depth sounder
wich gives me the same concerns.
Has any one got any advice, or experience with this.?
regards Alan.
