Hi Brent,

Mark's sub is a K-250. He has a steel hatch made in case he wanted to push the depth a bit or was operating in rough water. Better to hit the bottom of a boat with a steel hatch then a plastic bubble.

The conning tower view ports are to aid visibility with with the steel hatch.

When I did my training Mark's K-250 had the acrylic dome installed. He pointed out the steel hatch in his garage.
