Hi Brent. To keep it easy, just one MIG weld on the inside, then gouge
out the top ( mostly just cleaning because MIG welds made with cover
gas are clean anyway ) and lay filler beads into the cleaned groove. It
doesn't hurt to make the first root with TIG, again because the TIG process is
so clean, and any small defects in the first underside weld will show when using
