Thanks Frank, Good to know. I was mostly trying to copy what I thought I had seen on the S201. But now that I look at the pictures again, I can see they only have one weld bead showing on the outside, and two on the inside. So perhaps they did it like your talking about. http://www.msubs.com/Images/Services%20Images/Pressure%20Vessel%20Design/Pressure%20Vessel%20Design%20-%20Main%20Image.jpg Szybowski From: ShellyDalg@aol.com Date: Fri, 30 Jan 2009 18:16:58 -0500 Subject: Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] S201 Plate Type Thru Hull Assembly To: personal_submersibles@psubs.org Hi Brent. Nice work. The only suggestion I would make is changing the weld
profile. It's much easier to do full pen welds from one side, then back grind
the weld a little and put down a small cover pass. It's stronger and only
applies serious heat one time. Welding both sides more or less equally heats the
metal through twice, adding to distortion. Frank D. A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! |
