Hi Jim. Most of the psubs I've seen use automobile sized cables from the
batteries to a main junction block. With any DC circuit it's important to keep
the runs as short as possible. The larger the cable.....the less the voltage
drop. Stranded wire has less drop than solid wire. Once the junction block is
connected, power goes from there to the speed controller, and then to the
motors. ( another set of connectors at each through-hull)
With the Minnkotas I'm using, (36 volt-46 Amp ) the wires simply plug
into the speed controller with spade terminals, and the same size wire will go
from the junction block to the controller with spade terminals.In-line circuit
breakers or a fuse block needs to be in there somewhere. Basically, keep it as
simple and short as possible. Once the wire runs are connected, seal it all up
with heat shrink wrap, and coat the connections with a good electrical
sealer that you can get at the marine store. Frank
