Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Lifting K-250 Off Trailer the Hard Way

I didn't have a A frame lift or a fork lift when I needed to take my sub off it's trailer, so I did it much like I used to lift and move buildings. I will build a A frame lift later for moving the sub on and off it's trailer and working on it. I started to lift the sub and decided that I needed to remove the rear assembly parts and also remove the four lead slabs. I figured I could unbolt the bolts holding onto the slabs, but they were rusted on to badly. So I had to drill off the heads of the lag bolts and punch them thru.  So use SS nuts and bolts or duck tape guys, or you will have trouble later.

Also since they left no space between the lead slaps and the steel used for the twin keels, that area couldn't breath and it rusted much faster then most other areas on the sub. I can repair the damage, but I was temped to replace the twin keels with SS ones.

If any one needs some lightly used lag bolts with a long history in the arctic, they will be on sale on ebay shortly for Christmas presents. No extra charge for the yellow paint and rust covering them.
