Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Hard Trim Tank Questions

Hi Frank

I use many forklift sized cylinders for forklifts, as well as manlifts and sweepers. The cylinders hold 33 # of liquid propane and the gross weight of the cylinder when filled is 33 # plus the empty weight of the cylinder.By rough estimate I believe that my tanks hold about 7 gallons of liquid. Remember that part of the volume of a LP Tank is gaseous and I am not sure how much. As far as I can tell the internal ID is about 11 and the average inside length is about 17 inches. Thus 5.5 X 5.5 X 3.1416 X 17 = 1615 cubic inches divided by 231 cu. inches per gallon = 7 gallons.

I hope this helps!

My two cents.

Sincerely,

Jim K

Hi Hugh. I just checked the site again, and the larger ones are 33 pound tanks for fork lift usage. I've used the regular metal ones on fork lifts and they hold about 10 gallons so these are probably close to that. I'm not sure why they call them "33 pound" because they weigh a lot more than that when full. Frank D.
