Hello Frank, I might very well go with power assist of some sort. It seems resonably simple to me to do so, but since some believe it to be a terribly complicated monster, I guess I'm a rocket scientist and didn't even know it. Here are existing examples of what I'm basically trying to do with my double rudder/braking flaps. So as you can see it's nothing totally new. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Eurowings_bae146-300_d-aewb_arp.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Buccaneer-AirBrake.JPG http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_brake_(aircraft) Your resident possibility thinker ;)' Regards, Szybowski From: ShellyDalg@aol.com Date: Fri, 29 Aug 2008 12:39:38 -0400 Subject: Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Double Rudder/Braking Flaps for a K-250 To: personal_submersibles@psubs.org Brent. The K boat design for rudders is a proven design, and should be
fine. I personally don't like shafts penetrating the hull, but that's just me.
I'll be using electric actuators, and if that gives me grief, will switch to
hydraulics. There are however, some two position pneumatic cylinders that would
work nicely also. That was my first choice a while back because it could fail in
the upright position by using the spring return you mentioned. I'm going with
the electrics because it simplifies the controls. Frank
