Frank, The great news is your passive sonar is already prepared for your installation (And works great too!). What I am waiting on is a small amount of funding to aquire and prep the more desired underwater speaker (With some pressure testing from you as well to verify its good down deep (500')) We are also awaiting the arrival and testing results of the hydrophone casing pressure tests. (Jon has sent these on there way to you or soon will) I also need to produce a simple schematic of this overall system for Jon so that others can reproduce it. (Kits are available for both the preamp and amplifier but some like going alone.) Although the "mini" hydrophone did work, it is working at the extreme high end of broadband sound detection and may be a bit too high in frequency. More testing here is needed on this one. Thanks for the explanation. I think a device that will allow us to communicate with other boats is great. Your passive system may be able to detect other objects as well, like an approaching speed boat, or maybe an amorous whale? Keep working the bugs out, and we'll try it on a real sub one of these days. Frank D. It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here.
