Jeremy,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your post.  Must say that you've come up with a creative solution to construct a wet sub.  Nicely done.  Good luck as your project progresses.

Greetings Jeremy

I just love it that it was your wife that came home with the jetski.  I'd say you're off to a wonderful start;  Congratulations.

If you have not already done so, you should take a look at work that
Franck Iapichino has done with a jetski:

Pat Regan also jetpump experience.  His site is: www.vulcaniasubmarine.com

Best of Luck

I have been lurking on this list for around 6 years or better.  It's always been a matter of "now's not the right time I will start building in a year or two."  The best piece of advice I ever heard on here was "the most important thing to do is just start."  Well years later i am finally starting.  I decided to do a wet sub first as it is the cheapest and most forgiving.  And hopefully alot will be learned.  My wife came home with a jetski hull that had no engine.  She wanted to turn it into an elctric jet ski.  Something slow for putting around.  I was looking over the jet ski and noticed that I might be able to sit inside the engine compartment.  I then removed the gas tank to see if this was true.  It was a little bit of a tight fit in the back but leg room was great.  I then cut out a section to give more space in the back where it narrowed.  ! I then took the engine cover/handlebar tower and cut it down to become the fairing for my wet sub.  I took it out last night to do a propulsion test at the nearby river(no real current) and compared using the trolling motor I have with stock prop VS having the same trolling motor power the stock jet ski jet pump.  It appears that the Jet pump will work well though more testing is needed due to different pitches and more drag submerged. Here are some pics of last nights test and a pic of an identical stock unit. http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=IgCi%2F9Z4UrONxIxgdzH%2FZw%3D%3D Let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Jeremy
