RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] The little yello eBay submarine

You can count on my vote for that one! It is fairly close for me as well.

Nice little sub. Most likely another death trap, and better to be used as a sandwich shop sign. I think even used as an ambient sub or wet sub would be risky. You gotta be able to get out of it very quickly to have any hope of survival. I think the best sub designs are the ones shaped like sleds where you sit ON them rather than IN them. ( OK, not really subs ) That way you can just let go and swim for it. The 1 ATM subs we are building have some risk, but as long as we don't go in water any deeper than we can swim, we have a chance ( although pretty slim ) of surviving a mishap. I remember when we first tried the "excrutiator" and although it wasn't all that useful, it's a start to something that has a lot of promise. For those of us who actually plan on going down in a sub, scuba certification is the obvious first step, and then using the escape module to practice will be very useful.
Gotta find a place with warm water though. Anybody up for a convention in Florida? Frank D.
