Have a look at a Discovery or NatGeo doco on the BISMARK, they go down somthing like 4km and have a small ROV in a BOX shape they launch from there Small Sub.. It has a little garage and everything..  very cool... I managed to download it using BitTorrent..

Carsten/Jay. Agreed. God rest their souls. The men who have gone before us sometimes made great sacrifices, and we should all be thankful.
On the pictures idea....I wonder if it would be worth it to build a small ROV that could be launched from a sub to do recon. It wouldn't need to be too complicated ( expensive ) and could be very useful. A camera comes to mind first, or maybe an antenna with a locator so if you got stuck you could send it up to get help.
